Born and raised in New York City, Julia is the only child of an elementary school teacher mother and a hippie dad. Her passion for storytelling was fueled by her nontraditional upbringing and once-in-a-lifetime experiences: she has lived in Chile during the country’s first democratic elections after the Pinochet dictatorship; she attended the prestigious “Fame” high school in New York; organized with the hip-hop community in Cuba and once spoke with Fidel Castro.
Upon graduating from Brown University, Julia returned to New York where she wrote and toured her one-woman show He(R)evolution, an autobiographical account examining the struggles of a young woman working to understand her identity, both personal and political.
Julia was drawn to television writing after experiencing the joys of creating, producing, and acting in her critically-acclaimed web series East WillyB, which was named the “Latino Show for the New Generation” by The New York Times.
In 2015, Julia was one of three comedy writers accepted into the Disney/ABC Writing Program. She has written for ABC's musical-comedy "Galavant" created by Dan Fogelman and Disney Channel's "Stuck in the Middle." She is currently developing a romantic comedy, "7 Year Itch," about an interracial couple who goes on an epic road trip to visit everyone who attended their wedding in hopes of falling in love again.
